It is incredible that Moneyball tends to make baseball stats appear intriguing--but that is because it can be not genuinely a film about quantities, and it can be not genuinely a film about baseball, both. Miller has a number of flashy (and hugely efficient) moments of sound manipulation and modifying, but Moneyball is carried by its exceptional performances. --Bret Fetzer
